It had been a wet week since last Sunday, with many areas in Singapore being badly flooded. It rained heavily again this morning and I went to Google News to see if there had been another flooding in Orchard Road. So far so good, with news regarding on PUB's plan to handle floods in that area. Flooding is a natural occurance where humans can only do so much to elevate the flooding. With Orchard Road being so heavily developed, going as far as underground, the water need to flow somewhere since it cant flow underground. What saddens me is that among the "news headlines" in Google was an article by Temasek Review (TR). I'm not totally against TR, where I believe it started as an alternative news source by citizens (its practically a blog so how true their news source are is up to you). However, from the Elections fever period onwards, the posts they have seemed to be aiming readers to be against the parliament. The article headline I saw was "PUB provide no long term solution for flooding in Orchard Road" after PUB released their plans. If you are so smart, suggest it instead of sodding disharmony and discord in the country.
There had been many articles posted on TR that are not true. Unfortunately, many do believe in them. Its ok if it had been stated as their views, most don't. And with new media, such "news" are spread. That's how rumours became "true" and many refused to believe that it is not true. Like the Aljunied GRC Town Council case, where people just spread. I wonder do such defaming baseless articles which sod hatred and unhappiness with the parliament considered as an ISA threat?
